Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women as 40% of the cancers found in the world are breast cancer cases among Asian countries and Pakistani women are the most affected by this disease and at risk.

October is World Breast Cancer Awareness month every year. MERF is commemorating this month under this year’s theme of   𝙉𝙤-𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚 across its health facilities.

Free mammography and diagnostic facility is provided at MERF managed Government General Hospital, Nishtarabad Peshawar as early detection is key to beat this cancer. Referral facility is provided to those who detected positive for further investigations and treatment at renowned specialized other government hospitals.

IEC material for awareness displayed at hospital and other health facilities.  Video messages have been recorded regarding breast cancer awareness.  Awareness Walk also been planned on in Nishterabad area regarding breast cancer awareness, media will be invited to cover the event. Awareness Session in girls’ college is also planned for community sensitization.

Beat  breast cancer with early diagnosis –  Women above 40 years of age must have their check-up done. Women who breastfeed have a lower risk of breast cancer.
