MERF Observes World No Tobacco Day 2025

To mark World No Tobacco Day 2025, MERF, at Government General Hospital Nishtarabad, with support from its partners and Health Department KP, held a series of awareness and sensitization activities aligned with WHO’s global theme:  “Bright Products. Dark Intentions. Unmasking the Appeal.”

The campaign focused on exposing the tobacco industry’s deceptive marketing tactics targeting youth and emphasized the importance of quitting tobacco for better health outcomes. Key Activities Included:

  • Knowledge Sharing Session on tobacco cessation therapies with medical staff and stakeholders
  • Awareness Session for OPD patients and attendants on health risks and quitting support
  • Awareness Walk from GGHN to Peshawar Pharmacy as a public call to action
  • Pamphlet Distribution in Urdu and Pashto to broaden outreach
  • Educational Video Message by the Medical Department to inspire behavior change
  • Community based activities under BMGF supported facilities in targeted UCs of Peshawar

Tobacco continues to be a major health threat across Pakistan, particularly among young people. MERF remains committed to empowering communities through education, advocacy, and support services for a tobacco-free future.
