World Malaria Day 2025: “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”

Each year on April 25, the global health community unites to raise awareness and mobilize action against one of the deadliest yet preventable diseases — malaria. On World Malaria Day 2025, MERF (Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation) proudly reaffirms its unwavering commitment to eliminating malaria from Pakistan.

Through transformative partnerships with the Directorate of Malaria Control (DoMC) and Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN), MERF has spearheaded the mass distribution of millions of Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs) across Pakistan. From remote tribal regions to densely populated urban areas, our mission remains steadfast:

Protect Every Life. Prevent Every Bite.

MERF’s comprehensive malaria prevention strategy includes:

  • Free distribution of ITNs
  • Robust SBCC (Social & Behavior Change Communication) campaigns
  • Community-level awareness and capacity building initiatives

These efforts have helped empower thousands of families to adopt healthier practices, sleep safely, and reduce the risk of malaria transmission — especially in vulnerable, underserved communities.

To mark this important day, MERF commemorated World Malaria Day at health facilities in the Merged Districts and Sindh, as well as in community health centers and local schools. Awareness walks and interactive sessions were organized to engage the public, educate communities, and mobilize local action toward malaria elimination.

The Road Ahead

In line with the global theme — “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite” — MERF calls on all stakeholders to:

  • Reinvest in community-based prevention
  • Reimagine innovative approaches to healthcare delivery
  • Reignite passion and purpose to make malaria history

Together, we can end malaria — for good.
