Project Launched to Improve Immunization & Health System Strengthening

MERF launches project, “Improved Immunization Through Community Engagement and Health System Strengthening”, funded by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance through MannionDaniels. This year-long initiative focuses on enhancing immunization services in the districts of Peshawar, Karak, Khyber, and Kurram in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through strengthening routine EPI services, promoting meaningful community engagement, and partnering with local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to drive advocacy and foster positive behavioral change. Through this integrated approach, MERF aims to ensure that no child is left behind in accessing life-saving vaccines.

As part of the project’s inception phase, MERF has conducted training sessions for vaccinators and frontline health workers across the four target districts. These trainings aim to:

  • Enhance technical knowledge of EPI services
  • Strengthen communication and community engagement skills
  • Equip health workers to address vaccine hesitancy and expand outreach in underserved areas

By empowering frontline health staff, MERF is not only enhancing the delivery of immunization services but also strengthening the trust and connection between communities and the healthcare system.
