Partnering with Academia for Combating Malnutrition in Sindh

Over the past two years, MERF – in close collaboration with SPO and IRC, and with generous support from the European Union (EU) – has been actively addressing malnutrition in five target districts of Sindh: Ghotki, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Sukkur, and Naushahro Feroze. The program has focused on strengthening community outreach, building the capacity of local CSOs and health providers, and delivering essential nutritional support to children and pregnant/lactating women.

This commitment was recently highlighted at the National Conference on Tackling Malnutrition in Sindh: Pathways to Awareness, Action, and Innovation, held at Chandka Medical College (CMC), Larkana. The event was jointly organized by Strengthening Participatory Organization – SPO, International Rescue Committee Pakistan, MERF – Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation, and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) and brought together experts, academia, and civil society leaders to discuss innovative and sustainable solutions to malnutrition.

MERF also set up a dedicated Nutrition Stall, presenting awareness materials and an information booth to educate participants on nutrition knowledge and raise awareness on the prevalent issue of malnutrition in Pakistan.

Together, we’re building healthier, stronger communities.
